This carnivorous plant species produces robust, squat lower pitchers with a wide peristome, while the upper pitchers are yellow.
Nepenthes flava (Tropical pitcher plant flava) is a highland species that requires cooler temperatures, with daytime temperatures between 20°C and 25°C and nighttime temperatures around 10°C to 15°C. This carnivorous plant needs bright, indirect light, but too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. Nepenthes flava thrives in high humidity (60-80%), so regular misting is important to maintain moisture levels. Use rainwater, distilled water, or purified water, as tap water can be harmful due to its minerals. The soil should be well-draining, such as a mix of sphagnum moss and perlite. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. Nepenthes flava requires little to no fertilization, as it gets its nutrients from insects. The plant can be pruned to control its size.
