Drosera spatulata is one of the most common sundew in carnivorous plant cultivation. It is endemic to Asia, has a large area of distribution and many variations. Drosera spatulata is found in China, Japan, New Guiana, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. The carnivorous plant earns its name by the characterizing spatula/spoon like leaves that are arranged in a rosette shape. In the summer months Drosera spatulata forms an erect flower stalk that carries many white or pink flowers.
Drosera spatulata is an easy to care for sundew that is best cultivated in a mixture of peat and perlite. It can be placed on a sunny windowsill or in a terrarium with artificial lighting. During the blooming it is important that the seeds of Drosera spatulata are harvested on time because this sundew easily propagates by self-fertilization.
