Plant care: Common staghorn fern 'Platycerium bifurcatum'

Platycerium bifurcatum is a relatively low-maintenance fern, provided it is placed in the right location. The plant prefers a bright to semi-shaded position and does not tolerate direct, intense sunlight. Watering can be done by regularly moistening the root ball or mounting material. Allow it to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. High humidity is important for healthy growth; regular misting is therefore recommended. The ideal temperature range for Platycerium bifurcatum is between 18 °C and 25 °C. Temperatures below 10 °C should be avoided. During the growing season, the fern can be lightly fertilized once a month with a diluted plant fertilizer. In addition, ensure light air circulation to help prevent fungal and other diseases.
