Anthurium scandens is native to the tropical forests of Costa Rica and surrounding tropical countries. Here, the species can be found growing in trees and, occasionally, on the forest floor. During the various flowering stages of the spadix's tiny blossoms, both the spadix and the spathe undergo slight color changes. This epiphytic climber performs well as a houseplant but is also a favorite for terrariums. The leaves of Anthurium scandens are glossy green and grow from a slender, brown, climbing stem. The flowers are cigar-shaped and pale green. After flowering, small white berries develop on the flower spike.
