Trumpet pitcher plant x Velvet (Sarracenia x Velvet) is a pitcher plant cultivar of the North-American carnivorous pitcher plants from the Sarracenia genus. Insects are attracted by the sugars formed in the pitchers and they will be trapped in the pitchers of Sarracenia x Velvet. Araflora thinks it is a big advantage of plants from the Sarracenia genus that they are all hardy plants to a more or lesser extent.
Trumpet pitcher plant x Velvet (Sarracenia x Velvet) is a carnivorous plant that needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. It can be kept both indoors on a sunny windowsill or outdoors, but it requires constant moisture. Place the plant on a water tray or in a dish to keep the roots consistently moist, and use rainwater instead of tap water, which contains too much calcium. The Sarracenia x Velvet thrives in a nutrient-poor soil mix, such as peat, sand, and perlite. It does not need additional fertilization since it catches its own food by trapping insects. Remove brown leaves regularly to keep the plant healthy. Although hardy, Sarracenia x Velvet should be protected during cold weather. Cover the roots with hay or straw in frost or snow. The plant should be kept in a temperature range that’s not too low in winter. With the right care, Sarracenia x Velvet will thrive both indoors and outdoors, adding a fascinating and beautiful touch to your home or garden. It can also be grown in a terrarium if the light and moisture needs are met.
