Insects are attracted by the sugars formed in the pitchers of Pitcherplant x Smoorrii (Sarracenia x Smoorii) and they will be trapped in the pitchers after which the hoods will ensure that the insects can’t escape anymore. Araflora thinks it is a big advantage of plants from the Sarracenia genus that they are all hardy plants to a more or lesser extent.
