Insects are attracted by the sugars formed in the pitchers and they will be trapped in the pitchers after which the hoods will ensure that the insects can’t escape anymore. Araflora thinks it is a big advantage of plants from the Sarracenia genus that they are all hardy plants to a more or lesser extent.
