Trumpet pitcher plant x Maroon (Sarracenia x Maroon) hybrid is a cultivar of the North-American carnivorous pitcher plants from the Sarracenia genus. Insects are attracted by the sugars formed in the pitchers Pitcherplant x Maroorn (Sarracenia x Maroon) and they will be trapped in the pitchers after which the hoods will ensure that the insects can’t escape anymore. Araflora thinks it is a big advantage of plants from the Sarracenia genus that they are all hardy plants to a more or lesser extent.

Trumpet pitcher plant x Maroon (Sarracenia x Maroon) can be kept around a pond or in a vegetable garden, while it’s a hardy plant. When the plants Sarracenia x Maroon are covered by hay or when it is snowing, put some snow on them in this way the plant can sustain severe frost periods. Sarracenia x Maroon loves sunlight and it can also cope with heat. For Sarracenia species it is of utmost importance that they never dry out. Sarracenia x Maroon can therefore be kept on a bed of water. While tap water mostly has a high calcium content which Sarracenia species don’t like. It is advised to use rainwater instead. Sarracenia x Maroon requires a nutrient poor soil, Araflora therefore uses a mix of peat, sand and perlite. Leaves that have turned brown might be cut off since they serve no function any longer.
