Like other Sarracenia species, this carnivorous plant has pitcher-shaped traps to catch insects. The shape of the trap of Sarracenia minor are unique, as the tip is curved. This leaves only a small, covered opening where insects can crawl into the trap. The flowers of Sarracenia minor are yellow.
