Nepenthes albo-marginata 'Starter' - CarniNep04b
Nepenthes albomarginata is a tropical pitcher plant endemic to the island of Borneo where numerous other Nepenthes species are found. The name of the plant (albo = white, marginata = edge) refers to the ring of white hairs at the top of its attractive purple pitchers, hence white-collared pitcher plant. Unlike most pitcher plants, which are unselective about their prey, Nepenthes albomarginata almost exclusively traps termites which find its edible hairs extremely palatable. As far as we ...
know, Nepenthes albomarginata is the only species of pitcher plant that catches its prey by allowing itself to be consumed.

Nepenthes albomarginata can grow to a height of several metres if it given the opportunity to do so, otherwise it will remain at a low level. Nepthenes albomarginata is a botanical species, meaning the plant we supply is the same as those found in the wild.
Nepenthes albomarginata requires a great deal of light but should not be positioned in direct sunlight or it will become dehydrated. The best temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and certainly no lower than 10 degrees Celsius or higher than 30 degrees Celsius. It needs watering generously with rainwater or distilled water in a well-drained pot. It should be sprayed regularly to ensure the pitchers always contain water. Nepenthes albomarginata requires an environment with a high level of humidity. The best type of growing medium is neutral to slightly acidic peat. The plant does not require additional feeding and can be pruned if it becomes too tall.
