Cythea capensis is a tree fern with a slender trunk which can eventually grow up to 2,5 meters high. I nature this species can, under ideal circumstances, grow even taller. In a cool, shadowy and moist setting this Cyathea 'Which has only just been discovered for horticulture' thrives best.
Water the tree fern in its crown and make sure the trunk stays moist during warm weather. In nature this tree fern grows at great heights and is thus capable of sustaining at least a few degrees below Celsius, but because this species has only been recently discovered as a plant for hardens, it is not yet known exactly how hardy this plant is. During frost the leaves should be bound and the trunk covered with fleece. Watch out for water in the crown which could freeze.
