Syngonium angustatum is native to the tropics of Mexico and Central America. It is a real climbing plant therefore Araflora would advise to use a moss stick to let it grow on. Juvenile leaves feature heart-shaped leaves in dark green shade with lighter green veins. As the leaves mature, they start to take the form of an arrowhead (hence the name), and they develop a bright green shade in the center along the veins, creating a beautiful contrast of greens on each leaf. Syngonium angustatum wants to spread out in all directions and will create a beautiful and impressive foliage over time. However, Araflora advises to be careful with this plant in your room when you have pets or little children, while the leaves are poisonous if ingested.
Syngonium angustatum is an easy to care for plant, as long as it receives enough water. Syngonium angustatum is really low light tolerant but it thrives with medium to bright indirect (sun)light. Direct sunlight can harm the plant, because it will scorch their leaves. According to Araflora you can let the soil dry out a bit in between the times of watering, but don’t let it stand dry for too long while the lower leaves will turn brown and dry out. If it does happen, make sure to put a considerable amount of water on the soil in order to let the plant rehydrate. However, Araflora advises to regularly water the plant instead of letting the soil dry out. The optimum temperature for Syngonium angustatum is ranging from 16°C to 27°C. Araflora experienced that Syngonium angustatum will do fine with an average household humidity of 40%-50%, but it prefers a higher humidity level above 60%.
