Drosera gigantic originates from West-Australia. The name gigantea ('gigantic'), reflects on the unusual height for a Drosera. In the dry and warm summer months this species retreats, like every other tuberous Drosera, to its underground root or 'tuber'. Here she rests all summer until the humidity rises and temperatures drop. Then she will appear above the earth’s surface again and will form a bigger plant.
Drosera gigantea is best kept on a peat-perlite mixture, which contains largely of silica-sand. Make sure to keep the pot moist during the growth season. In the summer resting period the pot ought to be more dry, to avoid rotting of the tuber.
