Cycas revoluta can be found in Japan, Madagascar and in Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Sri Lanka. This palm is called a 'living fossil', because little or nothing has changed on the plant since prehistoric times. The Cycas has survived dinosaurs and defied several ice ages. It is said that they can live up to 1000 years.
Cycas revoluta is an easy plant to keep. The Cycas can go outside during the summer, spring and autumn, out of bright sunlight, otherwise the plant will turn yellow (until new leaves have appeared). When the temperature drops below -4⁰C the plant needs to be brought in. Water the plant regularly. A spot in the shade or partial shade will suffice as a site.
