There are many types of Philodendrons. It is difficult to get the specific species name right, for example, because young plants have a different leaf shape and also have a considerably smaller leaf compared to their adult counterparts. The leaf shape and leaf size may change at a certain point under the influence of the height of the plant, the amount of light the plant can receive or the contact of the root with the soil. Like many other types of tropical plants, philodendrons love to grow in trees. Philodendron also translated from Greek means: tree lover. It is possible to get closer to the light in dense tropical rainforests. If such an epiphytic plant comes into contact with the earth via long aerial roots at a given moment and becomes partly terrestrial, it can also change leaf shape and leaf size. There are still many types of Philodendrons undescribed and many hypotheses about this plant species have not yet been proven.
