Philodendron rugosum - Aroid155
Philodendron rugosum - Aroid155
Philodendron rugosum is both unique and rare. Its heart-shaped leaves look as if they have been painted with soft green brush strokes. They appear thick and leathery and have a crystal-like structure on the upper side. Because of this appearance, Philodendron rugosum is sometimes called “Naugahyde Philodendron" or "Pigskin Philodendron”.

Philodendron rugosum is endemic to Ecuador and is not found anywhere else in the world. It grows in sub-tropical and tropical forests as an epiphyte on trees.
Philodendron rugosum is a relatively easy houseplant to cultivate in a bright position. It needs protection from cold wind and must be grown in well-drained, constantly moist soil. A potting mix of sphagnum moss, perlite and/or orchid bark will provide the necessary drainage.
