Philodendron mamei - Aroid347

Like Philodendron gloriosum and ‘Philodendron plowmanii’ (an unpublished name), this is an Aroid growing on the shadowy forest floor of Ecuador. As a houseplant this Philodendron mamei will need an open pot for its stem to grow. Unlike the other two species Philodendron mamei is relatively smaller and more manageable. Add to this the beautifully speckled leaves with the blue undertones and you have a winner!

Plant care: Philodendron mamei

The Philodendron mamei is a very easy indoor plant that thrives in a sun filled room. It’s better not to put the mamei in direct sunlight because it may cause the leaves to get a slightly bleached look. The best method to check if the plant needs water is to check if the first few centimeters of the soil feel dry. This will probably amount in the mamei needing water around once a week. In colder months once every two weeks will be enough. It wouldn’t hurt to sprinkle some water on its leaves a few times a week to stay on top of the humidity your Philodendron needs.
