Scaphosepalum digitale stands out because of its size: mini. This graceful miniature orchid will feel at home in a humid terrarium or paludarium with sufficient light. With proper care, Scaphosepalum digitale produces yellow and purple spotted flowers, which appear on the long, vertically growing stems. The flowers provide extra color in the terrarium.

The natural habitat of this miniature orchid is on trees in the wet mountain forests of Central Ecuador at an altitude of 1250 meters. There, this Scaphosepalum lives among mosses, ferns and bromeliads on tree trunks. This plant is therefore ideally suited to be placed on an epiphyte covered branch or a fern root wall.
Scaphosepalum digitale needs a light place. Daily spraying with demineralised water is recommended. Additional fertilizing is not immediately necessary. Give this orchid an airy substrate or place the orchid on fern root or an epiphyte stem. Always put Sphagnum around the roots if the plant is not placed in a substrate to ensure sufficient moisture. Some experience with growing orchids is desirable.
