Promenaea rollisonii can be found in the wild in Brazil. The orchid blossoms one to three times a year with whitish red or whitish purple scented flowers. The leaves of Promenaea rollisonii are fleshy, slender and around 15 centimetre. They grow in pairs of two from round bulbs. The plant is suitable to keep in a cold terrarium with cold nights. Promenaea rollisonii will stay quite compact.
During the day Promenaea rollisonii needs a temperature of 20⁰C and at night this should drop to around 12⁰C. Temperatures below 5⁰C or above 25⁰C aren't good for this orchid. This species needs light in moderation and should be kept out of direct sunlight at all times, to prevent it from drying out. The humidity of its surroundings should be 65% and slightly higher during the night. Water it five to seven times a week with rainwater or distilled water to prevent the substrate to dry, without making it too wet. Don't water the plant for a month during winter. Proper airflow combined with a proper humidity will help prevent infections and disease. Promenaea rollisonii can be kept in a pot with shredded bark or attached to a piece of bark with mos. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. Fertilize when needed. Old flowers can be cut from the plant.
