Oncidium eurycline is found in Brazil at altitudes in a moderate to warm climate. The flower stems stick out above the leaves, growing from slightly flat bulbs. They are quite slender with a pointy end. Oncidium eurycline can grow multiple flower stems, each holding multiple flowers. Part of the flower petals are yellow and the other part are brown. At its centre, the flower is white with yellowish brown spots. The flowers reach around 2,5 centimetre. This orchid is also referred to as Oncidium croesus.
During the day a temperature around 22⁰C is sufficient, dropping to 12⁰C at night. Temperatures below 5⁰C or above 28⁰C can be too much for this orchid. This orchid doesn't need much light and should be kept out of direct sunlight at all times, to prevent it from drying out. The humidity of the habitat of Oncidium eurycline should be 80% and slightly higher at night. Water a lot with rainwater or distilled water during its blossoming and less in its period of rest. A proper airflow is important to prevent infections and disease. Oncidium eurycline can be kept in a pot with shredded bark, or attached to a piece of bark with moss. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. You can fertilize every now and then. Old flowers can be cut from the plant.
