Masdevallia coccinea Alba grows at altitudes between of 2,400 to 3,000 meters in the Andes. The variety has naturally pink flowers, but we offer you a white variety. It is not the lip, but the petals that make the orchid stand out. One flower grows on each flower stem of Masdevallia coccinea. These protrude far above the spoon-shaped leaves.
Masdevallia coccinea Alba grows best at a temperature around 20⁰C. The temperature should be between 5⁰C and 25⁰C with a humidity of around 80% to benefit the growth of Masdevallia coccinea. The orchid should be in a semi-bright place, avoiding direct sunlight. In winter, the plant should be kept in a light place and watered less. The orchid cannot store water, so make sure that the soil doesn't dry out. Use rain or distilled water 3-5 times a week. Sufficient air circulation is important to prevent diseases and infections. You can use orchid mix as a substrate or you can attach the plant to a piece of bark. You can find these and other growing supplies in our 'plant accessories' section. Make sure that water cannot remain in the pot. When the flowers have finished blooming, cut them off.
