Ludisia discolor is found in Indonesia, among other places, at altitudes of between 500 and 1000 meters. This means the plant is accustomed to tropical temperatures (22-28 degrees Celsius at night). The most striking feature of this orchid is its veined, dark green leaves, which feel velvety soft. The veins can be either pink or silvery-white. This contrasts with the lightly scented flowers, which are always white with a yellow accent in the center. For more information about this Araflora plant, see the plant information below.
In nature the Ludisia discolor grows in shady spots in misty forests. Although the temperature there feels tropical, the orchid is accustomed to little light. The plant can grow both in soil and on rocks, as long as it is near a river. A regular supply of water is therefore essential. Provide the plant with plenty of shade and high humidity. The orchid grows best at an average night temperature of 22-28 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures can even be about 5 degrees higher.
