Lygodium flexuosum is an evergreen climbing fern. It originates in tropical regions of Asia and Australia where it sometimes grows as a weed in rice fields. In places it has become invasive and proliferated to the extent of ruining the rice harvest.

The leaf stems and fronds of Lygodium flexuosum are slender, flexible, and extremely delicate. This fern requires a high level of humidity and is therefore eminently suited to a terrarium or an indoor greenhouse.
Lygodium flexuosum requires potting compost that is rich in organic matter (humus). It must never be allowed to dry out or become excessively wet. When repotting, mix bark or orchid potting mix with the compost in order to ensure efficient drainage. This fern enjoy a warm and humid environment. In winter, humifidiers are a good way of creating a sufficiently humid atmosphere.
