Huperzia phlegmaria ‘XL’ requires tropical conditions in which it can grow to a length of roughly 80 cm. Cultivating it as a hanging plant is a good option. Huperzia phlegmaria ‘XL’ grows slowly but growth will accelerate under ideal conditions. The Huperzia phlegmaria ‘XL’ supplied by Araflora will be young and vibrant; as a mature plant it will form a highly attractive green curtain.

Plant care: Huperzia (syn: Lycopodium) phlegmaria 'XL'

Huperzia phlegmaria ‘XL’ does not require a great deal of attention as it is by no means difficult to cultivate. Plants need to be watered every three days. Pebbles in the bottom of the pot will ensure good drainage and help to prevent rot or infection, as will good air circulation. Plants require a relatively high level of humidity and a temperature between 15⁰ C and 30⁰ C. The best substrate consists of peat or sphagnum moss. A moderate amount of fertiliser will promote the plant’s growth. Huperzia phlegmaria ‘XL’ needs plenty of light but must not be exposed to direct sunlight or fierce bright. Pruning is not advisable.
