Plant care: Hoya lanceolata ssp bella

This houseplant prefer to grow in a bright room with plenty of indirect sunlight. A windowsill facing the east or west would be excellent. Try to avoid direct sunlight during the afternoon, as this could damage the leaves. Because this species is originally from the foothills of the Himalayas, it won’t mind a little bit of cold. This is one of the Hoya’s that would do particularly well in a cool and bright attic. This easy to grow houseplant will appreciate higher levels of humidity (around 70%), but won’t mind drier air. Hoya bella is not too picky about temperature and will do fine with room temperatures ranging between 10⁰C and 30⁰C. It prefers a coarse, well-draining soil mix, such as a combination of (orchid) bark, perlite and a regular peat-based soil. Although this species is a moisture loving Hoya, it is still very susceptible to root rot if its roots are standing in water. Make sure the soil is almost dried out before watering again. This Hoya is particularly suited to grow in a self-watering container.
