Like all other species of Heliamphora (sun pitcher plants), Heliamphora minor is native to the northern part of South America, particularly Venezuela. Insects (mostly ants) are attracted to the pitchers by scent and color, causing them to slip from the rim and become trapped. The inside of the pitcher has a waxy coating, preventing the insects from climbing out. Heliamphora minor is one of the smaller species, only growing a few centimeters tall. This, along with its beautiful white flowers, makes it perfect for a small terrarium. The symbols below will give you additional indications for this carnivorous plant.
