The exotic plant Euphorbia bupleurifolia is a plant that looks strange and special. The leaves grow on top of a broad stem that looks like a large pine cone with a green crown resembling a pineapple. The leaves are long and become wider towards the end. The Euphorbia bupleurifolia is a succulent from the eastern part of South Africa. Here it grows among the bushes, in grasslands or on the savannah. Euphorbia bupleurifolia is a species that is widespread and widely harvested for medicinal use. However, we do not recommend this, just use it as a beautiful ornamental plant!
The tropical plant Euphorbia bupleurifolia is easy to care for. It prefers a spot in the sun or partial shade, where it will grow slowly but steadily and needs very little water. During the growing season, water 1 to 2 times a week. However, do not water in winter. The soil must remain dry then because the plant can easily rot. The temperature may not fall below 10°C. The substrate for Euphorbia bupleurifolia must let water through well and does not have to contain much organic material. You can find a soil mixture specially developed for tropical plants such as Euphorbia bupleurifolia in our "Plant accessories" section. This plant is toxic when consumed.
