The Chamaedorea Elegans ‘Variegata’ is also known as the ‘Mexican Dwarf Palm’. This plant is originally found in the rainforests of South-Mexico and Guatamala. The Chamaedorea is a small palm tree that has been a popular houseplant since Victorian times. This specific plant is the variegated version of the Chamaedorea and is covered in beautiful white specks. The name of this plant is originally Greek, with ‘Chamai meaning ‘on the ground’ and ‘Dorea’ meaning gift.
This plant is very low in maintenance. It’s best not to put the plant in direct sunlight. It’s good to spray the plant with a plant spray every now and then to make sure it stays humid enough. Make sure the soil is well drained. Keep the soil moist but don’t overwater it. The best soil for the Chamaedorea is a mix between soil and sand or gravel. Special palm tree soil will also suit this plant perfectly.
