Ceropegia armandii is endemic to Madagascar where it is found in dry regions. For a substantial part of the year, Ceropegia armandii does not have any leaves so only its bare stem is visible. Even just this part of the plant is eye-catching. In the wild, the vining or trailing stems eventually start to form new roots, In this way the plant is capable of vegetative reproduction. When the wet season arrives, Ceropegia armandii starts blooming and its cage-like flowers appear.Flies are trapped at the heart of these flowers and released once they have been covered in pollen. After they have escaped, they can pollinate other specimens.
Ceropegia armandii is fairly straightforward to care for. The most important thing is to ensure that the soil is light with excellent drainage. The soil needs to dry out between waterings. The plant should be placed in in a bright spot out of direct sunlight at room teperature (20 degrees Celsius).
