Cryptanthus microglazioui is a plant to be found in the tropical forests of Brasil. In appearance the Cryptanthus microglazioui is really striking; from its stem grow long, narrow leaves with serrated edges in all directions. The leaves are thick and of a dull-green colour, the ‘stem’ is reddish-brown. This plant is particularly suited to terraria with poisonous frogs or other amphibians. This plant also thrives in the home or office.
The Cryptanthus microglazioui is an easy-care species of the bromelia family. A light spot or a place in half shadow is best for this plant.The area around the plant should be really moist, so water the Cryptanthus microglazioui adequately. Stagnant water close to the roots should be avoided for example by giving surplus water the chance to drain. This species does not make any demands on the ambient temperature except that it should not get any colder than about 5°Celsius [41°F]. A mix of peat and potting soil can be used as an substrate.
