The bromeliad species Brocchinia reducta is an unusual carnivorous plant. It is one of three species of bromeliad that have evolved in such a way that they can catch and digest insects. The carnivorous bromeliad plants are the Brocchinia hechtioides and Catopsis berteroniana. All in all, a very intriguing plant from the Gran Sabana of Venezuela where it does not live as an epiphyte but on the ground. This Araflora plant is not suitable for consumption.
