The Billbergia decora is a bromelia that thrives in a light spot or in some place in the half shadow. The soil should always be quite moist, but the Billbergia does not like stagnant water near its roots. Therefore let excess water drain from the bottom of the container. This exotic plant is not winter-hardy, but can stand all other fluctuations in temperature. The substrate for the Billbergia amoena must be capable of retaining moisture but need not contain many nutrients. Araflora sells different suitable substrates for this type of plant.
