This bladderwort is a small charming species from the Brazilian state Bahia. Utricularia parthenopipes has a delicate appearance with narrow grassy leaves and long flower stalks each carrying one or two flowers. These flowers are mainly white, but purple and yellow spots add some colour to them. Utricularia parthenopipes is easy to take care of and its size makes it ideal to fill that colourless spot in your terrarium.

Utricularia parthenopipes is endemic to Brazil, meaning it can only be found there. The bladderwort grows there in wet soil on the trees of the tropical rainforest. Despite its size, this species is a striking plant thanks to its many purple flowers. The look similar to orchid flowers and grow from green stems. The upper petal is purple with a white lip and a yellow spot below it. The narrow leaves, hiding the traps, look like grass. Utricularia parthenopipes is an annual plant.
Utricularia parthenopipes needs a humid environment due to its origin. This should be 80%. Aim for a temperature around 28⁰C to 30⁰C in the summer and a temperature around 20⁰C during winter. A light spot results in a rich blossoming. Water Utricularia parthenopipes using mineral poor water, like rainwater. This carnivore needs moist soil constantly and can be put under water every now and then. The substrate is ideally a mixture of peat moss and perlite or pumice.
