Utricularia calycifida is a widespread species from South America. It can be found in the humid tropical rainforests of Guyana, Suriname, Brazil and Venezuela. The variation 'Gran Sabana' with its striking round and red veined leaves makes this species even more eye-catching. Under the flower petals dark purple veins can be seen. Utricularia calycifida 'Gran Sabana' differs from other bladderwort species, as it grows in the soil.
Utricularia calycifida 'Gran Sabana' is easy to take care of. This carnivore needs a warm, light and humid environment, easily created in a terrarium. Its environment should be between 22⁰C and 27⁰C with a humidity of 80%. Water Utricularia calycifida 'Gran Sabana' every now and then with rainwater until the substrate is underwater.
