Asplenium x ebenoides 'Dragon’s Tail’ is sometimes cultivated as a house plant but in view of its geographical origins, it can also be grown outside in partial shade in temperate climates. Some confusion exists about the correct name for this fern since the hybrid is sterile but commercially available plants are grown from spores. Nevertheless, this is a remarkably beautiful fern.
The potting compost should be evenly moist but not soggy or wet. The addition of mulch in the form of composted tree bark will ensure efficient drainage. In summer it can be placed outdoors in light shade. Overwintering is best indoors to avoid frost, in a room that is not too hot with moderate humidity.
