Venus flytrap Dionaea muscipula 'Shark teeth' 'Starter'

Dionaea muscipula 'Shark teeth' 'Starter' - CarniVFT151a

Dionaea muscipula 'Shark teeth' starter is a small rooted version of Dionaea muscipula 'Shark teeth'. This cultivar takes its name from its sharp little teeth. When the trap’s leaf lobes are open, it very much resembles the gaping mouth of a shark. The blood red upper surfaces of the traps develop best if exposed to plenty of sunlight.

Plant information: Venus flytrap Dionaea muscipula 'Shark teeth' 'Starter'

Dionaea muscipula 'Shark teeth' starter has traps at the end of its leaf stalks with which it catches insects and spiders. Prey is attracted by the familiar combination of a sweet-smelling fragrance and the vivid red colour of the trap leaves. When an insect triggers it, the trap snaps shut at remarkable speed. Once the Venus flytrap has digested the insect, the trap reopens in order to catch more insects.
