Dionaea muscipula 'Crested Jaws Smiley' has broad leaf lobes growing at the ends of short leaf stalks. Its little teeth stick together, inclining gently inwards. This gives it a rather comical appearance. This is deceptive. The leaf lobes are literally fatal for the prey they entrap.
Dionaea muscipula 'Crested Jaws Smiley' needs a great deal of light. Hard water - rich in calcium -can lead to root rot so is best avoided. Keep the growing medium constantly wet using rainwater, boiled water or demineralised water. Dionaea muscipula 'Crested Jaws Smiley' does not need plant food as it obtains nutrients from the insects it catches.
