Dionaea muscipula 'Clone bcp' is a highly decorative flytrap with striking leaf lobes. Their red upper surfaces seem to glow against a bright green background. The more sunlight the plant receives, the more additional leaves develop and the more intense their red inner surfaces become.

Dionaea muscipula 'Clone bcp' has traps that snap shut when one of its trigger hairs is touched by its prey. There have to be two stimulations of the trigger hairs in quick succession. This is to avoid inadvertent triggering of the mechanism for example by drops of rain – a remarkable evolutionary adaptation.
This Venus flytrap cultivar is not difficult to grow. It does equally well indoors as a houseplant or outside, provided it is kept constantly wet with plenty of sunlight. In the winter months, Dionaea muscipula 'Clone bcp' should be kept in a cooler environment and given less water so it can enjoy a dormant period of winter rest.
