This plant needs a lot of direct sunlight but no chemical fertilizer. Be sure never to let it dry out. The Venus Fly Trap does like a moist environment and prefers being in bright sunlight. Dionaea plants do not need any fertilizer as they will get all their nutrients from the insects they catch. Watering a Venus Fly Trap can best be done with water low in calcium e.g. boiled water or rain-water. Indoors the Dionaea needs to be placed in a sunny spot. Outdoors these exotic plants do well in a wet, sunny environment for example close to a pond.
