Plant care: Trumpet pitcherplant 'Sarracenia x barbapapa'

While Sarracenia x barbapapa is a hardy plant, it can also be kept nearby a pond or in a vegetable garden. It can sustain severe frost as long as it is covered with hay or when it is snowing, put a little extra snow on the plants. Sarracenia x barbapapa prefers full sun and ultimate colouration will therefore be obtained in full sun, besides it can handle heat too. It is crucial for Sarracenia species that they never dry out and therefore they can be best kept on a bed of water. Sarracenia x barbapapa requires a nutrient poor soil, Araflora therefore uses a mix of peat, sand and perlite. Leaves that have turned brown might be cut off since they serve no function any longer. While tap water mostly has a high calcium content which Sarracenia plants don’t like it is advised to use rain water instead.
