Trumpet pitcher plant purpurea var venosa (Sarracenia purpurea var. venosa) is an American pitcher plant. This is a unique group of carnivorous plants found in the eastern United States and Canada. The plant features cup-shaped traps that have a compact form and are located close to the ground. Sarracenia purpurea can be kept both indoors and outdoors and is hardy. The species has purple flowers that grow on long stems. In the trap of this American pitcher plant, there is always a layer of rainwater mixed with digestive enzymes, where insects drown and are digested. The traps of Sarracenia purpurea var. venosa turn deep red in color at high light intensity. This plant does not have a lid over the trap, unlike many other Sarracenia species, because this species needs rainwater in its cups. Araflora has many different types of Sarracenia in its assortment. Be sure to check out the other cultivars and Sarracenia species as well.
Trumpet pitcher plant purpurea var venosa (Sarracenia purpurea var venosa) does not need to be fed with insects. The plant prefers nutrient-poor soil; Araflora uses a mixture of peat, sand, and perlite. Sarracenia purpurea var. venosa is naturally found in southern parts of USA and is therefore not particularly resistant to severe frost. As a result, the Sarracenia purpurea var. venosa can be kept outside year-round, but of course, it can also be kept indoors. In winter, this Sarracenia grows less vigorously. It should remain moist, preferably at a low temperature. This carnivorous plant likes to be in a sunny or bright spot. The pot of Sarracenia purpurea var. Venosa can always sit in a layer of 'Rain' water indoors. This plant enjoys high humidity. In the garden, a spot at the edge of a pond is ideal.
