Trumpet pitcher plant leucophally (Sarracenia leucophylla) is an American pitcher plant that develops large, slender, pitcher-shaped traps. In its native habitat in the eastern USA, these traps can reach up to a meter in height. The pitchers Sarracenia leucophylla are green in color with red patterns along the edge. They are partially covered by a hood-like lid to prevent too much rainwater from entering the open pitcher. Inside the pitcher, there is a layer of water containing digestive enzymes. If an insect is attracted by the plant’s lure and accidentally falls into the water, it cannot climb out because the walls of the pitchers are covered with a waxy layer. The insect drowns and is digested by the plant. The flowers of this species are red. Sarracenia leucophylla is the largest and most striking species of American Pitcherplant. Araflora is proud to offer you Sarracenia leucophally as a remarkable carnivorous plant.
Trumpet pitcher plant leucophylla (Sarracenia leucophylla) prefers to grow in a sunny location with plenty of light, and it is best placed in direct sunlight. This American pitcher plant loves high humidity. Therefore, provide Sarracenia leucophylla with enough water, but ensure that any excess moisture can drain from the pot. This plant can be kept both indoors and in the garden, but the temperature should remain above -5 degrees Celsius. Sarracenia leucophylla thrives in nutrient-poor soil that retains moisture well. A mixture of sand, perlite, and peat is ideal for this. Araflora also sells ready-made soil mixtures for Sarracenia species.
