Drosera schizandra is a member of the 'three sisters of Queensland', a group of closely-related sundew endemic to Queensland's tropical rain forests in Australia. The exotic Drosera occurs in the forests around Mount Bartle Frere, and thrives in low lighting and high humidity. From all the members of 'the three sisters of Queensland', Drosera schizandra is the one that requires the least light as it grows at the bottom of the jungle where little sunlight penetrates the dense vegetation. The trapping leaves of Drosera schizandra have a large, flat oval shape and grow in the shape of a rosette.
Drosera schizandra is best cultivated in a standard peat and perlite soil mixture or pure sphagnum. Drosera schizandra likes high humidity and thrives in a terrarium with high humidity and a limited amount of artificial light all year round.
