The Drosera filiformis ssp filiformis originates from North America. It has long tentacle-like leaves that can grow up to 30 cm long. In the winter this type takes a rest period by forming a winter bud of densely rolled leaves. In spring filiformis Drosera filiformis again starts producing the long leaves.
The Drosera filiformis ssp filiformis thrives in a mixture of peat and perlite, and needs to always stay moist. During winter, the plant can be kept in a cool, sheltered place. If the end of the trap leaves start to curl during the growing season, it means that the plant is too wet.
