Plant information: Sun pitcher plant 'Heliamphora minor'

Sun pitcher plant Minor (Heliamphora minor), like all other species in its genus, is found in the northern part of South America. Insects (mainly ants) are attracted to the cups by scent and color, only to slip off the rim and become trapped in the Sunpitcherplant minor (Heliamphora minor). The inside of the cup of Heliamphora minor has a waxy layer that prevents the insects from climbing out. Heliamphora minor is one of the smaller species, growing to a few centimeters in height. This, combined with its beautiful white flowers, makes the species perfect for a small terrarium.

Plant care: Sun pitcher plant 'Heliamphora minor'

The Sun pitcher plant minor (Heliamphora minor) is known to be a somewhat more challenging species to care for. However, if you take care of some basic conditions, keeping this carnivore should not pose significant problems. The most essential requirement for Heliamphora minor is very high humidity, around 80-90% and low temperatures. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the species in a terrarium or greenhouse. The temperature, on the other hand, can vary considerably. It can range between 20°C and 32°C, but ideally, it should be around 26°C. For substrate, you can mix live or dead sphagnum moss with peat and perlite. We offer this in our plant accessories section. Ensure that this mixture does not have the chance to dry out by watering it three times a week with rainwater or other mineral-rich water. Place Heliamphora minor in a very bright location.
