A real Brazilian plant like the Sinningia leucotricha will indeed be a conversation piece in your home. Its sturdy stalk grows straight up from the tuber, which lies partly above ground. From the top of the stalk a coronet of four large, whitish-green leaves will grow. When in flower a great number of trumpet-shaped, orange flowers will develop on top of this leafy coronet. A splendid sight to behold! Moreover taking care of the Sinningia leucotricha is really simple. Araflora is happy to explain in its plant care information section how the Sinningia leucotricha can be kept.
The Sinningia leucotricha likes a light spot and because of its reflective grey leaves, it can even tolerate some direct, bright sunlight. The potting soil of this species should be kept moist during growth and can be left to dry out when the tuber is at rest. This is possible because the Sinningia leucotricha stores water in its tuber. However, stagnant water near its roots is bad for the plant. Therefore let superfluous water drain from the bottom of the container. The Sinningia leucotricha prefers an ambient temperature of between 5° Celsius [41 F] and 35° Celsius [95° F]. The soil should be a light, permeable substrate, for example an Araflora mix of sand, peat and potting soil.
