Plant care: Scadoxus multiflorus ssp multiflorus

The Powder Brush plants like Scadoxus multiflorus ssp multiflorus are suitable as house plants in Northern Europe. Temperatures around the freezing point are tough on this tropical plant. For potting we recommend a porous and nutritious soil. During the dormant period the bulb must be kept dry. When growing the Scadoxus multiflorus ssp multiflorus requires quite a bit of water, but that water must not remain on top of the soil. In summer the plant can be put outside, preferably in the shade, for example in that of a tree.
