The Philodendron 'Purple Congo' is an easy-care houseplant, which in summer can be put out on a balcony or terrace. It thrives in every type of light apart from bright, direct sunlight. The best spot is in the half shadow or one that only has sunlight during certain hours. The soil of the Philodendron 'Purple Congo' must stay quite moist, but its excess moisture should be drained through a hole at the bottom of its container. The ambient temperature for this plant has to be between 10°-35°Celsius [50°-95°F]. This plant prefers a permeable type of soil. Once a month the Philodendron xanadu should be given some fertilizer to stimulate its growth.
