The micans is part of the Philodendron-family which counts hundreds of different variations. The plant originates from the tropical areas of Central- and South America. The micans is a botanical variation of the Philodendron. The plant has beautiful heart shaped leaves with a purple, velvet-like glow. New leaves from this plant can even appear pinkish in the beginning. The micans is a really diverse and easy plant to add to your collection as it can be used as a climber as well as a hanging plant!
The Philodendron micans is a very easy indoor plant that thrives in a sun filled room. It’s better not to put the micans in direct sunlight because it may cause the leaves to get a slightly bleached look. The best method to check if the plant needs water is to check if the first few centimeters of the soil feel dry. This will probably amount in the micans needing water around once a week. In colder months once every two weeks will be enough. It wouldn’t hurt to sprinkle some water on its leaves a few times a week to stay on top of the humidity your Philodendron needs.
