Plant information: Philodendron dolichogynium

Philodendron dolichogynium grows naturally as an epiphyte in the eastern Macas region of the Amazon, near the Andes Mountains. This exotic plant has long, narrow leaves with particularly elongated petioles that capture light optimally. The veins are more subtle than in similar species, giving Philodendron dolichogynium a unique character. The nectar-producing glands on the underside of the leaves attract ants in nature, which protect this exotic plant from harmful insects. Plant care: Philodendron dolichogynium

Philodendron dolichogynium grows best in bright, indirect light, although it can tolerate lower light conditions; however, sufficient light stimulates larger leaves and healthy growth. This exotic plant needs moist but well-drained soil and should never be left in wet conditions for long periods, as this can cause root rot. It thrives best in high humidity of 65%–85% and warm temperatures between 18°C and 29°C. As it is a climbing plant, it needs support, such as a moss pole or stick, allowing Philodendron dolichogynium to follow its natural growth pattern and develop larger, mature leaves. Under these conditions, this exotic plant often produces numerous aerial roots, which promotes climbing behaviour and contributes to its decorative appearance.
